Courtyard by Marriott Opens Near Los Angeles Airport

    WASHINGTON, Aug. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Courtyard by Marriott, Marriott
 International, Inc.'s (NYSE:   MAR) moderately priced lodging product, opens its
 newest hotel in the Los Angeles area today.  The Los Angeles/Century Boulevard
 Courtyard, located at 6161 West Century Boulevard, is a conversion of the
 Regency Plaza Hotel built in 1993.  The hotel continues Marriott's rapid
 growth of the chain throughout the United States and marks the seventh
 courtyard to open in the Los Angeles area.  A Grand Caribbean themed event for
 the business community will kick off the opening at the hotel from 5:30 p.m.
 to 8:30 p.m. today.
     Conveniently located near Los Angeles Airport, and 12 miles from the heart
 of downtown Los Angeles, the Courtyard is a perfect location for business and
 leisure travelers seeking moderately priced accommodations.  The new hotel is
 a result of a franchise agreement with Sunstone Hotel Properties, Inc.
 headquartered in San Clement, Calif.  Sunstone Hotel Properties also manages
 three other Courtyard hotels located in Cypress, Fresno and Riverside, Calif.
     "This location marks the newest hotel on Century Boulevard and will play
 an important role in meeting the needs of both business and leisure travelers
 seeking convenient access to the Los Angeles Airport," said Craig Lambert,

 commitment to expanding Courtyard hotels into airport markets."
     The seven-story hotel includes four meeting rooms to accommodate groups of
 up to 85 people.  Other hotel features include:

     The hotel has 180 guestrooms including three king suites and six double
 suites with Jacuzzi spas and refrigerators.  Guestrooms feature a king-size
 bed or two double beds, a separate seating area with sofa bed, a large work
 desk and two telephones equipped with dataports.
     Other amenities found in Courtyard guest rooms include complimentary
 in-room coffee, hair dryer, iron with ironing board and cable television
 including free HBO, CNN, ESPN, TNT, TBS, Discovery Channel, Weather Channel,
 USA NETWORK and the Premium Movie Channel.  Courtyard guest rooms also include
 important safety features for travelers:  double-locking door mechanisms and
 safety bar door latches, in-room smoke detectors and sprinklers.
