DC Government Gives OK for Giant Food BikeDC; Starting Point Moved to RFK
WASHINGTON, Sept. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- The Giant Food BikeDC ride will take place as scheduled on September 23 beginning at 8:00 a.m. Representatives from the DC government met with the Washington Area Bicyclist Association on Wednesday to discuss changes to the bike route in response to manpower shortages at the National Park service and metropolitan police. The Park service and police will be assisting with traffic control along the bike route. As a result of the meeting, the starting point for the ride has been changed from 14th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue to RFK stadium in NE Washington, DC. The bike route will be closed to traffic in areas around Anacostia Park, the National Mall and Constitution Avenue. The bike tour will end at RFK stadium. Parking is available in parking lot 8 on the south side of RFK stadium. Walk-on registrations and participant check-ins will take place in parking lot 8A.
