DEKALB Announces Introduction Of New Corn Line-Up
DEKALB, Ill., Jan. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Officials at DEKALB Genetics Corporation (NYSE: DKB) are excited to announce the introduction of 12 new corn hybrids. These new conventional hybrids just released are in addition to 15 previously announced new specific-trait corn products (STPs) DEKALB will offer for the 1998 planting season. The new STPs include: five new Roundup Ready(R) corn hybrids, six new DEKALBt(TM) hybrids, three new IMI-Corn(R) hybrids and the industry's first Roundup Ready(R)/YieldGard(R) stacked-trait corn hybrid. A summary of the key features and relative maturities (RM) of these new products include: CORN DK 325 DK 325 is a 82 RM (80 RM in MN) hybrid with excellent yield for its maturity. This hybrid can handle a wide range of environments and management practices. Excellent emergence and seedling vigor make DK 325 a good choice for early planting. Very good roots and very good test weight are also strengths of this hybrid. Agronomists recommend planting DK 325 at medium to high populations for optimum results. DK 355 DK 355 is a high yielding 85 RM (85 RM in MN) hybrid with strong performance across a wide range of environments. This hybrid has fast drydown and excellent roots, and very good emergence with excellent seedling vigor make it an outstanding choice for early planting. Medium-tall plant height and good staygreen makes DK 355 a good choice for grain or silage. DK 405 DK 405 is an attractive 90 RM (90 RM in MN) hybrid with outstanding yield, excellent seedling vigor and root strength. This hybrid is early flowering and exhibits quick drydown, making it an excellent choice for early harvest. DK 405 performs best at medium to medium-high plant populations. DK 440 DK 440 is an attractive, high yielding 94 RM (95 RM in MN) hybrid which can be planted in a wide range of populations and is adapted to all soil types. Excellent root strength, seedling vigor and emergence are strengths of this hybrid. DK 525 DK 525 is a high yielding, widely adapted, 102 RM (100 RM in MN) hybrid with very good stalk quality, root strength and test weight. DK 525 is a good dual purpose hybrid demonstrating strong performance when harvested for grain or silage. DK 525 is adapted to all crop rotations and has very good plant health and seedling vigor, making it a good choice for early planting and reduced tillage.
