NEW YORK, Aug. 5, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Deloitte announced today that Mark Price, principal, Deloitte Consulting LLP, has been appointed vice chairman and U.S. public sector and state government leader. Price succeeds Jessica Blume, who is retiring after a distinguished 26-year career with Deloitte.
"For more than two decades, Mark has led engagements that have helped government agencies transform and enhance the services they provide to their communities," said Brian Kanter, principal, Deloitte Consulting LLP, and U.S. clients and industries leader. "Deloitte is deeply committed to its public sector clients and the people they serve, and I look forward to seeing our practice continue to advance under his direction. His experience will be invaluable as we help our clients navigate change and take a leading role in shaping the future of government."
Price, who is based in Boston, will lead one of Deloitte's largest industry practices, which includes more than 3,700 professionals who specialize across a range of program areas including, health and human services, finance and administration, transportation, motor vehicles, workforce and higher education, among others.
"This is a pivotal time for the public sector as exponential innovation and disruption reshape the way government agencies operate and how they serve their citizens," said Price. "Digital technologies are driving a more intuitive customer experience, while also improving efficiency and transparency.
At the same time, enterprise-wide program integration and big data analytics are informing decisions that lead to better outcomes and improved performance."
Price added, "In order to deliver on the promise of digital transformation, governments will need to prioritize and leverage investments across agencies, protect against escalating cyber security threats and navigate through significant budget and talent constraints. State governments stand out for their creativity, ingenuity and ability to innovate, and we expect tremendous progress and change in the next five years. With that in mind, I am delighted to serve our public sector clients in this new capacity and help them realize the potential of a new digital government operating model that delivers real, positive impact for citizens."
Price has more than 25 years of experience serving government clients in Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and the United States, where he has led a range of complex strategy, operations and technology engagements. He has worked across the public sector environment in areas including health care, human services, transportation, motor vehicles, energy and resources, finance, administration and technology operations. Most recently, Price served as the national leader of Deloitte's Consulting's state government and higher education strategy and operations practice.
"We also sincerely thank Jessica Blume for her outstanding client service, mentoring and leadership of our people, and ability to see ahead to the next trend," Kanter said. "We wish her the very best in her retirement and congratulate her on an impressive career."
