Delphi Earns Two Prestigious Supplier of the Year Awards From Shanghai Volkswagen

    SHANGHAI, China, June 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Delphi (NYSE:   DPH) today
 announced two of its joint ventures in China have been honored as Shanghai
 Volkswagen 2001 Suppliers of the Year for their superior performance in
 quality, service, technology and competitiveness.  An additional Delphi China
 venture was nominated for the award.

     "Earning the 2001 Shanghai VW Supplier Award reflects the outstanding
 efforts of the entire China team," said Dr. Choon T. Chon, president of Delphi
 Asia Pacific Operations.  "We're honored to be recognized by Shanghai

     The Delphi joint ventures in China that received the 2001 Shanghai
 Volkswagen Supplier of the Year Awards were:
     -- A Gold Award in the electric commodity group to Delphi Packard Electric
 Systems Company Ltd.  This Shanghai-headquartered Delphi joint venture
 produces electrical/electronic distribution systems and provides engineering
 and customer support;
     -- A Silver Award in the electric commodity group to Shanghai Delphi
 Automotive Air Conditioning Systems Co., Ltd.  Established in 1998, SDAAC
 manufactures HVAC and heat exchangers.
     A third Delphi China joint venture, Shanghai Delphi Automotive Door Latch
 and Security Systems Company Ltd., was also distinguished with a nomination.
 A total of 45 suppliers were nominated among Shanghai Volkswagen's 400
 suppliers.  Seventeen suppliers won the Supplier of the Year Award.
     Shanghai Volkswagen, a Sino-German car-making joint venture founded in
 1985, is presently China's largest carmaker, accounting for 38.73 percent of
 the Chinese market.  As of the end of 2001, SVW had manufactured and sold 1.9
 million vehicles, with sales revenue exceeding $26.7 billion.
     Delphi's ventures in China support OEM customers while projecting its
 commitment with government and industry leaders to assist local vehicle
 initiatives.  Delphi operates 11 ventures in China, comprising nine joint
 ventures and two wholly-owned ventures.  Delphi manufactures a wide range of
 products in China, including wiring harness, engine management systems,
 batteries, catalytic converters, brakes, air conditioning systems,
 instrumental panels and automotive electronics.  Delphi China reported
 30 percent growth in sales last year.
