From November 20 through December 11, participating Denny's restaurants
in communities across the United States will display "Angel Trees"
decorated with paper angel tags listing the first name, age, gender and
Christmas wish of a local child who will receive the gift. Denny's
customers and employees who wish to participate can select an angel tag
from the tree and purchase a gift for a needy child. New, unwrapped gifts
of clothing or toys for a child can be brought to Denny's by Dec. 11 for
distribution by The Salvation Army.
"We are pleased to have Denny's as a community partner in the Angel
Tree program, which plays an important role in supporting those in need
during the holidays," said Major George Hood, National Community Relations
Secretary for The Salvation Army. "Denny's support has allowed us to expand
the program even further as a widespread grassroots initiative, touching
communities and lives across the nation."
"At Denny's, we are committed to giving back to the communities we
serve. Extending The Salvation Army's outreach nationwide is just another
way our company and franchise restaurants demonstrate that commitment,"
said Nelson Marchioli, Chief Executive Officer and President of Denny's.
"During this gift-giving season, we want to encourage people everywhere to
make a difference by helping a child in need, right in their own
neighborhood, have a fun and memorable Christmas."
A list of the more than 900 Denny's restaurants across the nation
participating in the Angel Tree program can be accessed on the company's
web site at www.dennys.com.
