Sets November 30th Submission Deadline for Community and Civic Groups

NEW YORK, Nov. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- desigNYC, a coalition of New York based designers and design advocates who have come together to improve life in NYC by connecting community and civic groups in need of design services with professional, pro bono design resources, is issuing a call for proposals from non-profit organizations.

Requirements for applicants are that they manage an organization in New York City, be in need of design resources and have an interest in engaging in a collaborative design process. Any type of non-profit, community, civic or social purpose organization can apply.

"We want to help bring design into communities, and help communities integrate design more effectively into what they do every day," said Ed Schlossberg, one of the founding members of the group and principal designer at ESI Design. "desigNYC aims to be a connective conduit between the design world and the non-profit world -- simplifying transactions, strengthening interconnections and amplifying impact."

Interested applicants should visit www.desigNYC.org to complete a submission form by November 30th. The initial collaborations will be announced on mid-December, with work to commence January 2010.

desigNYC is comprised of design professionals from the Museum of Modern Art, Auster*Agency / BKLYN DESIGNS, Deborah Berke Architects LLP, Gensler, Pentagram, Majora Carter Group, ESI Design, New York Magazine, School of Visual Arts, Tsao & McKown Architects, Margie Ruddick Landscape, New York University and YRG Sustainability Consultants.
