Detroit People Mover Begins By-Pass Service, September 15

    DETROIT, Sept. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Detroit People Mover service resumes on
 Sunday, September 15, with the system operating on By-Pass service between
 Bricktown and Millender Center stations.
     The By-Pass service consists of two trains traveling in opposite
 directions, bypassing at the Times Square station.  There is no need to
 transfer between trains.  The By-Pass service will continue through June 2004.
     The Detroit People Mover service was modified to accommodate the track and
 station closure at the Renaissance Center during General Motors' renovation
     As a courtesy to its passengers, DPM will waive the fare for both the
 shuttle and People Mover throughout the month of September.  Monthly pass
 subscribers will be given a one-month credit on their current subscriptions.
     Resuming on October 1, 2002, fare for the Detroit People Mover will be
 50 cents per ride.  A token or any combination of U.S. nickels, dimes and
 quarters may be used for entry.  Tokens are available in all operational DPM
 stations.  The DPM is accessible to elderly and disabled persons.
     Persons with disabilities who are Medicare cardholders as well as seniors
 are eligible for a 50 percent discount on passes and token and are available
 at the Detroit People Mover Administrative Offices located at 1420 Washington
 Boulevard, 3rd Floor, Detroit, Michigan 48226. Children under 5-years of age
 ride free.
