Invitation to Airport Community Honors and Remembers Victims and Heroes,

Provides Volunteer Help in Terminals

    DFW INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, Texas, Aug. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- DFW Airport is
 inviting the entire Airport community to participate in a ceremony on
 September 11, 2002 at 8:30 a.m. at Founder's Plaza to honor and remember the
 thousands of victims of last year's September 11 terrorist attacks.  The
 Airport will also pay tribute to the heroes in Washington, D.C. and New York,
 and acknowledge the hundreds of employees and public safety officers at DFW
 who made sure not a single passenger was left stranded at the airport that
 tragic day.
     Following the brief ceremony, the Airport's employee volunteers, known as
 the Helping Hearts, will be dispatched to the Airport's four terminals to be a
 positive and comforting presence for passengers.  The volunteer group was born
 on September 11, after 243 aircraft were grounded at DFW following the
 attacks.  The volunteers will join forces with DFW's Airport Ambassadors to
 answer questions and distribute commemorative lapel pins.
     "September 11 was a tragic day for our country and for the world and we
 believe it is fitting to respectfully acknowledge all of the victims and
 heroes of that day, and in the days since the attacks," says Jeff Fegan, CEO
 of DFW.  "The DFW Airport community also pulled together like never before to
 assist our passengers and assure a secure environment.  The spirit that was
 born during those dark hours has indeed been an inspiration to us all in the
 past year."
     The commemoration will include the Airport Department of Public Safety
 Honor/Color Guard, prayers by Airport chaplains, patriotic music, a moment of
 silence and a military fly-over salute.  One of the aircraft participating, an
 AWACS E-3, was one of the first in the air to protect the skies over
 Washington, D.C. on September 11.  The aircraft and crew are from Tinker Air
 Force Base in Oklahoma.  DFW's Honor/Color Guard was established in 1980 and
 will lower the U.S. Flag to half-staff to begin the ceremony.
     DFW Airport board employees will also be participating in the United Way's
 "Day of Caring and Remembrance" and are encouraged to bring in canned goods on
 September 11 to be distributed to Dallas and Tarrant County food banks.
     Memorial services will also be conducted at various times throughout the
 day in the chapels located in each of the Airport's four terminals.  DFW's
 Interfaith Chaplaincy will conduct the services.
