WASHINGTON, Nov. 19 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Vital Voices Global

organization based in Washington, D.C., elected five new directors at its
 November board meeting in London.

The new directors are: Mary C. Foerster, Boeing Corporation's Vice

Vital Voices believes in the transformative value of women's
participation in society. The NGO invests in emerging women leaders who are
pioneers of economic, political, and social advancement in their countries
and builds the capabilities, connections and credibility they need to
unlock their potential as catalysts of global progress. The honorary
co-chairs of Vital Voices are US Senators Hillary Rodham Clinton and Kay
Bailey Hutchison. Melanne Verveer and Mary Yerrick, both co-founders of
Vital Voices, respectively serve as Chairman and Vice Chair of the Board of

The new directors have been engaged in the work of Vital Voices prior
to joining the Board. For example, Diane von Furstenberg has lent her
considerable talents to the creation of Vital Voices' logo design.
Annually, she also has held a major celebration in New York to mark
international Women's Day on March 8, and has directed a percentage of her
sales over a week both in New York and in her boutiques in major cities
worldwide to support the work of Vital Voices. Several remarkable women
global leaders who are representative of the vital voices of our time will
participate in this year's observance in New York.

Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala was the recipient of Vital Voices 2006 Economic

During her tenure in the State Department, Dina Powell was instrumental
in the establishment of an innovative mentoring program that brings young
businesswomen to the United States to be mentored by top women in corporate
America. The program is a partnership between the State Department, the
Fortune's Most Powerful Women's Summit and Vital Voices.

Mary Foerster has been active in leading the Boeing Corporation's
partnership with Vital Voices. She also served as Co-Chair of the 2007
"Women Changing Our World" Vital Voices Global Leadership Awards, which
takes place annually at the Kennedy Center.

Ambassador Guerra is one of the key leaders of the Vital Voices 2008
Leadership Summit for Women and Girls of the Americas that will take place
in Argentina in June. The Summit will bring together leaders throughout
South America and the Caribbean to address key challenges and develop
strategies to advance greater economic, political and social progress.

Board Chairman Verveer said, "We are blessed to have these
distinguished leaders as new directors. They have already brought their
experience in government and business to the service of women around the
globe who are advancing economic opportunities, increasing political
participation, protecting human rights and building peace in place torn by
conflict. Each is contributing to the creation of a better world."
