Dick Clark Discovers the Fun Side of `KidStuff'
BURBANK, Calif., Oct. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Kids say the most truthful
things. And often what comes out of the mouths of babes is more inspiring
than anything we'll ever hear from adults. Dick Clark confirmed this recently
while he was taping a new family video, "KidStuff." The award-winning video
will be released this week.
A joint release from dick clark productions and MVP Home Entertainment,
Inc., "KidStuff" celebrates the natural innocence and wit of children. Clark
said his experience talking with school children made him feel secure about
the future.
"Kids today are bright, quick and ready to catch anything we throw at
them," Clark noted. "These kids showed me in their own natural and honest way
that we adults have nothing to worry about."
During the taping of "KidStuff," Clark spoke about romance, discipline and
other hot topics with a multicultural mix of children at a school in suburban
Los Angeles. "I haven't had this much fun since I was in school," said Clark.
Clark goes back to his rock-and-roll roots when he talks with children
about their favorite dances. None of the kids has heard of the Twist or the
Frug, but all are willing to do the "Mishmash" for a peppy dance segment.
Amid jokes about broccoli and a "chicken-crossing-the-road" marathon, the
children contemplate more serious matters, like which objects they would put
in a time capsule. And most kids choose smarts over physical strength as a
primary virtue.
"People want to see the positive side of young people today," said Philip
Knowles, president of MVP. "We know that Mr. Clark has been at the center of
youth culture for a long time and we're honored that he chose to explore the
outlook of children with us." The video just received the "Family Approved"
seal from the nonprofit Dove Foundation. Dick Clark and co-producer Shelley
Frost will be featured in the "Gayle King Show" (CBS) on October 20 and the
"Home & Family Show" (Family Channel) on October 24. Check local listings for
air times.
"KidStuff" will be available in stores October 21, list priced at $14.98.
