SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- DigitalCustom Group, Inc. announced today that it is expanding into the Japanese digital imaging market with its line of custom digital editing services. Japan-U.S. trade consultant, Tomo Nakagawa, has been appointed as DigitalCustom's Japan Business Development Representative to develop the Japanese imaging markets. DigitalCustom offers custom digital editing services to consumer and professional markets. It is forging relationships with Japanese camera, scanner and printer manufacturers to promote its services and educate Japanese consumers and professionals about custom digital editing. At the retail level, DigitalCustom will work with Japanese photo retailers and labs to allow Japanese consumers to order professional digital photo editing services in-store. DigitalCustom also plans to launch a Japanese language version of its consumer Web system, Image-Edit & Art (http://www.image-edit.com) in March 2002. DigitalCustom is the first company to establish all essential elements of a custom digital editing business for a worldwide service: a scalable technology system that can manage a high volume of custom editing orders; a central support, customer service and quality control facility to ensure consistent work; and an International consortium of managed digital editing service providers. Custom digital editing is largely non-automated and is a labor and creative talent-intensive service. "Japanese consumers are the most digital in the world," said Jeff Makoff, President of DigitalCustom. "While the acceptance of digital photography in Japan has far outpaced the U.S., the extremely high cost of professional creative services in Japan makes custom editing and photo restoration unavailable at a reasonable price. We will work with Japan-based photo retailers and manufacturers to make this core product available in Japan." "We welcome Mr. Nakagawa to our business development team. Our Japanese language service will be online by April 2002, and partnerships with Japanese retailers and hardware manufacturers are very timely," added Dr. Barnabas Takacs, DigitalCustom's Co-Chairman and Chief Technology Officer. About DigitalCustom DigitalCustom Group develops products that allow advertising/marketing agencies, media companies, photographers, in-house corporate departments, photo-retailers and consumers (through Image-Edit & Art) to outsource digital image editing work, and manage digital image editing workflow.
