NEW YORK, Feb. 25, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Dimension Data, the $5.8 billion global ICT solutions and services provider, today announced that Tina Gravel has joined the company as vice president and general manager of its Americas cloud services business. In this newly created role, Ms. Gravel will leverage her extensive experience in Cloud and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) to accelerate the Americas' expansion in this area, which is aligned with the company's global cloud strategy.
The appointment of Ms. Gravel reinforces Dimension Data's continued investment in cloud services. In 2013, the company expanded its global Managed Cloud Platform footprint by announcing four new centers, bringing the total number of locations to 11: Amsterdam, Hong Kong, Johannesburg, London, Melbourne, Sydney, Tokyo, Sao Paulo, Santa Clara, Calif., and two sites in Ashburn, Va. Dimension Data was named the 2013 CRN Solutions Provider 500 "Company of the Year" for its exceptional acceleration in the cloud- and services-driven IT arena, and was recently identified by InformationWeek as a "2014 Cloud Startup to Watch." The Americas also expanded its breadth of cloud computing services in 2013 with the addition of higher education technology provider Ellucian to its OneCloud Global Partner Program.
"Tina is a well-known sales and channels leader, with considerable cloud and SaaS expertise. Given her extensive experience, we're confident she will quickly make an immediate, positive impact on the business," said Mark Slaga, CEO of Dimension Data Americas. "Her strong track record of success makes her the right choice to lead our Americas cloud services business during this time of burgeoning opportunity."
Ms. Gravel is an award-winning executive with more than 25 years of sales experience in the IT outsourcing, cloud and SaaS industries. She comes to Dimension Data from Nirvanix, where she was vice president of Worldwide Sales and Marketing, leading the company's sales, marketing and indirect channel programs. Prior to Nirvanix, Ms. Gravel was a member of the original management team at Terremark, a Verizon company, where she held several leadership roles, including vice president of Global Channels and Alliances, managing partner for the IT outsourcing (ITO) business, and vice president of Terremark's Central Region Sales operations. Her guidance helped take the company from $400,000 in annual sales in 1999, to the acquisition by Verizon for $1.4 billion in 2010. Prior to Terremark, she led the Southwestern enterprise sales team for Net Gravity, now owned by Google. Ms. Gravel also gained additional sales experience in senior positions at leading IT companies including SAS, Sybase and CSC.
In 2013, Ms. Gravel was included in CRN's annual Top 50 "Women of the Channel" list for her successful work in the indirect channel and alliances business at Nirvanix. In 2004, she was a top ten "Women in Black" recipient, an honor given by the City of Chicago and istreet Magazine, which recognized Gravel's leadership in the technology industry.
"Dimension Data is home to one of the most engaged, innovative teams in the industry," Ms. Gravel said. "I look forward to leading the cloud services charge for Dimension Data Americas as the company executes its plan to triple its revenue over the next five years."
