The Leprechaun Latte, a peppermint mocha flavored beverage topped with
green whipped cream, will be available at Starbucks stores in New England from
February 15 through March 17, 2006. First introduced in 2002, the Leprechaun
Latte was initially available in one downtown Boston store. The popular
offering is now enjoyed by customers throughout New England and has become a
highly anticipated beverage for Starbucks each winter.
"The importance of literacy is a fundamental belief shared within the
Starbucks organization," said Starbucks New England spokesperson, Jennifer
Guebert. "We are excited to partner with Jumpstart and share in their passion
for teaching and inspiring children to read."
"We are excited to continue partnering with Starbucks to bring high
quality learning experiences to preschool children throughout New England,"
said Rob Waldron, CEO of Jumpstart. "For 5 years, Starbucks has been a partner
in our mission to work toward the day every child in America enters school to
succeed, a partner in our efforts to educate our communities about the value
of investing in early literacy, and a partner in our belief that every child
deserves a chance for success."
Official Growth Partner and National Sponsor of Jumpstart since 2001,
Starbucks has assisted in building awareness for the organization and raising
funds for its various programs. Money generated from the sale of the
Leprechaun Latte will benefit pre-school children throughout New England. Last
year alone, Starbucks New England donated over $13,000 to Jumpstart from the
sale of approximately 53,000 Leprechaun Lattes.
