Distinguished Executive Joins New York Blood Center Board of Trustees

 

Business and IT Executive Harriet Edelman Joins Board

NEW YORK, Nov. 23 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- New York Blood Center (NYBC), which provides lifesaving blood, transfusion products and medical services to Greater New York's 20 million residents via almost 200 hospitals, in addition to operating the world's largest public cord blood bank and a significant medical research institute, is delighted to announce that Harriet Edelman has been elected to its Board of Trustees.

Ms. Edelman has a long record of business accomplishment and public service, serving Avon Products as its Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Senior Vice President and, more recently, heading information technology for Emigrant Savings Bank. She currently serves on the Boards of Brinker, International, Ariba, Inc., Girl Scouts USA and the Police Athletic League of New York.

Biography - Harriet Edelman

Harriet Edelman is an accomplished executive with more than 25 years of global operating experience and a director of public companies since 2001. Ms. Edelman is on the Board of Directors of Brinker, International and Ariba, Inc. She previously served as a Director of the Hershey Company and the Blair Corporation.

Ms. Edelman serves as head of Information Technology and Advisor to the Chairman, New York Private Bank & Trust, focusing on IT strategy, organization, technology-enabled business transformation and support of portfolio businesses.

Ms. Edelman is a Vice President of the Board of Directors of the Police Athletic League of New York, serving as co-chair of the Nominating and Governance Committee. She is on the National Board of Girl Scouts USA, serving on Fund Development and Audit Committees. Ms. Edelman was named a top "Woman behind the Women" by Forbes magazine.

Ms. Edelman spent most of her career to date at Avon Products, Inc. She was named an Officer in 1987 and held senior, global leadership positions in Information Technology, Manufacturing and Distribution, Procurement and Logistics, Sales, Marketing, Product Development, and Customer Service. She was a member of Avon's Executive Committee until she left the company in 2008 after serving as SVP and Chief Information Officer and, prior to that, SVP, Global Supply Chain.

Ms. Edelman received a Bachelor's Degree from Bucknell University and her MBA in Marketing from Fordham University.
