WASHINGTON, Dec. 4 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- DNC Chairman Tim Kaine issued the following statement on the November jobs report from the Department of Labor showing far fewer jobs lost than economists anticipated:

"The latest jobs report from the Department of Labor is further proof that the Recovery Act is working and our economy is coming back from the brink. Just this week the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office report showed that the Recovery Act has saved or created up to 1.6 million jobs and leading economists say it's on track to reach its goal of saving or creating 3.5 million jobs.

"While this news is cause for optimism, we recognize the pain of unemployment and will keep working to create robust private sector job growth and to ensure that there is a job for every American who seeks one.

"Though we still have a ways to go, study after study has shown that the Recovery Act has saved us from an economic free-fall. But despite all the evidence, the Republican Party of NO continues to stand in opposition to President Obama and Congressional Democrats and cheer for their failure. While the President and Democrats are fighting for pragmatic policies to get us out of the worst recession since the Great Depression, Republicans are offering up nothing but the failed economic policies of the Bush Administration, the same policies which got us into this mess in the first place."
