Donan Engineering Expansion Continues

Firm Announces Plan to Open Forensic Engineering & Fire Investigation Operations in Chicago, Illinois

LOUISVILLE, Ky., Dec. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Donan Engineering Co., Inc. today announced plans to expand their forensic engineering and fire investigation operations into Chicago, Illinois. Donan will begin offering forensic investigative services from their new Chicago office beginning January 1, 2010. This new office will provide the northern portion of Illinois with a local, single-source provider for forensic engineering and fire investigation services.

"Opening an office in Chicago was an easy decision for our organization," says Lyle Donan, CEO. "Our firm has been doing work in the Chicago area for a number of years from our nearby offices in South Bend, Indiana; Bloomington, Illinois; and Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Our clients routinely ask why we don't have an office in the Chicago market since we are already performing work there. With this type of feedback coming from so many of our good customers, it made the decision-making process very simple, as we are always looking for ways we can better serve our clients. Now with our commitment to open a new office in Chicago, we feel confident that we are more capable of delivering forensic engineering and fire investigation support that far exceeds our clients' past expectations for prompt customer service and reasonable fees."

Donan Engineering offers consumers a single source for forensic engineering investigations and fire origin and cause investigations. The firm offers a wide array of services falling under the main categories of structural engineering investigations, fire and explosion origin and cause investigations, roofing investigations, vehicle accident reconstructions, and component testing laboratory services.

Donan Engineering is a third-generation family-owned engineering firm that was founded in 1947 in Madisonville, Kentucky. From 1947 until 1999, the firm focused on providing mostly conventional engineering services (civil, structural, environmental, architecture, etc.). In 1999, with approximately 20 employees in four offices, the decision was made to focus exclusively on the forensic engineering and fire investigation industry.

The firm is now headquartered in Louisville, Kentucky. Including Chicago and two other offices opening in Florida on January 1, Donan has over 160 employees operating from 24 offices in 12 states. From these locations, the firm completed approximately 18,000 forensic investigations in 2009 for a client base consisting primarily of insurance companies, attorneys, commercial property owners and businesses, manufacturers, utilities, and homeowners.
