Dr. Spanier was also the head of the research team who produced the scholarly article, Maintenance Interpersonal Psychotherapy for Recurrent Depression: Biological and Clinical Correlates and Future Directions.

Dr. Spanier earned her Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh. She also holds a M.S. in Communication Disorders and a B.S. in Communication from Marquette University.
