Dyan Alexander Selected to Lead Women In Government
WASHINGTON, July 9, 2014 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Washington, DC: After an extensive search, the Board of Directors of Women in Government (WIG) is pleased to announce that Dyan Alexander has been chosen as the organization's new Executive Director. Women In Government Foundation, Inc., headquartered in Washington, D.C., is a national, non-profit, non-partisan organization of women state legislators that provides leadership opportunities, networking, expert forums, and educational resources to address and resolve complex public policy issues to all 1,788 women state legislators.

Prior to accepting the Executive Director position, Ms. Alexander served as the Director of Policy for Women in Government and most recently filled the roll of Interim Executive Director. Dyan brings a broad range of experiences in the profit and not for profit worlds to this role. Her knowledge of public policy, advocacy and fundraising make her a perfect fit for WIG's future needs.
Alexander held a number of key positions in Government Affairs at Astra Zeneca Pharmaceuticals, LP over a fifteen year time span including Federal Government Affairs Manager, Global Government Affairs Manager in London, SGA Affairs Director of Operations and SGA Director of Lobby Channels and Issue Management. Dyan's work history includes positions with Baltimore Gas and Electric and Lockheed Martin. Ms. Alexander's long list of career accomplishments show her leadership capabilities on the federal, state and local levels.

Alexander received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Mass Communications at Towson University, Towson, MD and a Masters Degree in Administrative Science from John Hopkins University, Baltimore, MD.
Dyan lives in Annapolis, Maryland and enjoys gardening, travel and visiting with her children and grandchildren.
