SOUTHFIELD, Mich., June 30 /PRNewswire/ -- The Eight Mile Boulevard Association's eighth annual Clean Team campaign will take place Monday, July 21 through Friday, July 25, 2003. During this week long event, businesses, residents, and member governments sweep, weed, plant, recycle, and paint to improve the physical appearance of their properties. Each year, this event improves the overall appearance of 27 miles of Eight Mile Road, from I-94 to I-275. The Eight Mile Boulevard Association's Clean Team Prize Patrol will be cruising Eight Mile looking for participants. If spotted, workers will be given gift bags containing items from Eight Mile Road businesses. The Eight Mile Boulevard Association encourages businesses and volunteer groups to register their participation by calling 248-559-8633. Clean Team T-shirts are available for $5.00 each. Employers are encouraged to outfit their teams with the official 2003 Clean Team T-shirt. Following the week-long event, the Eight Mile Boulevard Association Clean Team Committee will be judging properties for beautification awards. Nominations for the awards can be submitted to the Association via e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org . The awards recognize businesses that have made significant improvements, and that regularly maintain their property, making Eight Mile Road a visually pleasing place on which to shop, transact business, and live. Judging for the beautification awards will take place on Wednesday, July 30. The 2003 Clean Team campaign is made possible through the generosity of Standard Federal Bank. The Eight Mile Boulevard Association's mission is to revitalize and promote the Eight Mile business, transportation and residential corridor by linking the efforts of the public and private sectors.
