Eight Mile Boulevard Association Event Friday, May 16, To Look Back on Ten Years and Into the Future

    SOUTHFIELD, Mich., Feb. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- The Eight Mile Boulevard
 Association's Fourth Annual Leadership Luncheon will be held on Friday,
 May 16, 2003 at 11:30 a.m. at Vladimir's in Farmington Hills.  The theme for
 the luncheon is Ten Years: Paving the Way.
     The Leadership Luncheon is one of the region's premier public policy
 forums, and over 500 people are expected to attend.  Featured guests invited
 to speak are: Jennifer Granholm, Governor of Michigan; L. Brooks Patterson,
 Oakland County Executive; Robert Ficano, Wayne County Executive; Nancy White,
 Macomb County Board of Commissioners Chairperson; and Kwame Kilpatrick,
 Detroit Mayor.
     This year's luncheon will celebrate the past successes of the Eight Mile
 Boulevard Association, now in its tenth year.  As the Eight Mile corridor
 spans three counties and over a dozen communities, discussion will also focus
 on the cooperation necessary to maintain and improve economic development in
 the region in the future.
     The Eight Mile Boulevard Association's accomplishments include landscaping
 along the Eight Mile medians, reducing litter and blight, improving bus stop
 facilities, communicating with affected people about services and successes,
 coordinating police enforcement and crime prevention activities, and helping
 developers and brokers attract or expand business establishments.
