AMSTERDAM, October 30, 2015 /PRNewswire/ --
Elsevier, a world-leading provider of scientific, technical and medical information products and services, and Maclean's, Canada's only national weekly current affairs magazine, today announced they have worked together on Maclean's 2016 University Rankings.
Maclean's ranking methodology weighs factors that measure research productivity and performance, using a variety of bibliometric indicators such as publications and citations. Elsevier provided data on the research publication output in ten subject areas for a pre-determined list of 60 Canadian Universities; the subject areas include education, nursing, business, and biology.
"Maclean's chose Elsevier for the depth and breadth of its Scopus data base, as well as its experience working with other publications on rankings," said Kim Honey, Maclean's editor of special issues. "We're excited to introduce our very first rankings by subject, and we have Elsevier to thank for that."
"As Maclean's looks to expand their university ranking methodology, we are pleased that they've chosen to work with Elsevier," said Nick Fowler, Managing Director Research Management. "We know that Scopus data as well as our analytical services offered through SciVal can help Maclean's achieve their business goals as they strive to provide prospective students with the critical information they need to guide them in choosing a school."
Publication data was used from Scopus, the largest abstract and citation database of peer-reviewed literature, while analytical services were provided by SciVal - both part of the Elsevier Research Intelligence portfolio.
