When: 10:00 a.m., TUESDAY, February 14, 2012

Who: Representative of Falun Dafa Association of Washington, D.C.
Members of Congress (invited)
Victims of the persecution of Falun Gong

What: On the day that Chinese Communist Leader Xi Jinping meets with President Barack Obama at the White House, a group of overseas Falun Gong practitioners will gather at the Lafayette Park across from the White House, to demand the end of the twelve year, brutal persecution of Falun Gong practitioners by the Chinese Communist regime.
Background: Falun Gong is a traditional Chinese spiritual discipline that is Buddhist in nature. It consists of moral teachings for daily life, a meditation, and four gentle exercises. At the core of Falun Gong are the values of truth, compassion, and forbearance. In just seven years since its introduction to the public in 1992, Chinese authorities estimated that 70-100 million persons in China had made Falun Gong a part of their daily lives.
The leaders of China's atheist Communist Party, under the leadership of Jiang Zemin, decided to "eradicate" Falun Gong on July 22, 1999, following years of escalating state abuses. Today, Falun Gong remains the most severely persecuted group in China, possibly the largest religious persecution in the world. Millions continue to face detention, slave labor, torture, and death because of their spiritual belief.
