ENR Midwest Names INTREN Specialty Contractor of the Year
Regional Construction Magazine Awards Specialty Contractor for Nearly Doubling Revenues from 2011 - 2014.
UNION, Ill., Sept. 8, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- ENR's (Engineering News-Record) network of regional editors has named INTREN ENR Midwest's Specialty Contractor of the Year. Announced July 31st, 2015, INTREN was selected for the award by the regional magazine for their revenue growth, outstanding work within the industry and charitable contributions on the ENR Midwest's Blog "Midwest Musings." ENR Midwest is a print and online publication that serves Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, and eastern Missouri, providing news, features and information about all facets of the development, design and construction marketplace.
The blog post discusses INTREN's history and current initiatives that were considered by the editors before making a final decision. "After years of incremental growth, [INTREN] nearly doubled its revenues between 2011 – 2014. Last year, revenues soared by 25%, another breakthrough for the firm," said John Gregerson, the editor of ENR/Midwest. "[INTREN's] growth has come as a result of several key alliances and initiatives, as well as a culture that promotes training and development... For those and many other reasons, ENR's network of regional editors has named INTREN ENR Midwest's Specialty Contractor of the Year."
ENR Midwest's final decision was based on INTREN's involvement in the Peoples Gas Modernization Project, work on ComEd's Smart Grid Program and the contractor's 24/7 Emergency Storm Response and Restoration initiatives. Along with the contractor work INTREN provides, ENR brought to light the many stewardship initiatives INTREN participates in as a major factor for the award. ENR notes INTREN's involvement in the CONSTRUCT program which helps provide training to minorities interested in obtaining careers in the construction industry. The post goes on to mention the specialty contractor's involvement in the formation of the Promoting Of Women in Energy Roles (POWER), as well as support of numerous local and nationwide charities.
"Being selected as the recipient for this award starts from the ground up. This honorable distinction within our industry begins with the men and women in the field whose hard work and determination everyday sets INTREN apart," said Lance Rosenmayer, INTREN's President. "INTREN is extremely proud to be named ENR Midwest's Specialty Contractor of the Year and look forward to continuing to lead by example within the utility industry."
ENR Midwest's award marks the third award INTREN has received this year. In early April, INTREN received Ameren Corporation's Contactor of the Year award for their efforts to proactively support, mentor and provide the necessary resources to minority diversified companies. Also, in mid-May, INTREN received the 2014 UCA Safety Award for the contractor's work to improve safety standards within the utility industry.
INTREN will be profiled in the September 28th edition of ENR Midwest. For more information on the award or to view the blog article, visit Midwest.construction.com.
