NEW ORLEANS, Dec. 8 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Entergy Corporation and Entergy New Orleans, Inc. President and Chief Executive Officer Rod West recently received awards from the National Eagle Leadership Institute for displaying exemplary leadership.

Entergy received the NELI Award for its "stellar leadership in corporate responsibility" and for the company's commitment to diversity and inclusion. West was among 11 business leaders receiving the CareerFOCUS Eagle Award, which honors African-American and Latino professionals who excel in business and community leadership.

NELI serves as a leadership development resource for African-American and Latino professionals and college students.

Entergy Chairman and Chief Executive Officer J. Wayne Leonard said, "There is no universal playbook you can follow to create and sustain a truly diverse and inclusive organizational culture. It simply comes down to doing the right thing and treating everyone the same."

Entergy currently has more than 20 employee-directed diversity and inclusion councils and affinity groups throughout the seven states in which it operates. It also has mandatory diversity and inclusion training for all employees.

West Led Local System Rebuild, Lowered Electric Rates

West joined Entergy in April 1999 and by January 2007 he was named president and chief executive officer for Entergy New Orleans, Inc. He led the team that restored the electric infrastructure following Hurricane Katrina. West also led Entergy New Orleans out of bankruptcy following the storm and has since lowered electric rates by $35 million.

West is known for his focus on charitable and community efforts involving education, healthcare, economic development and the rebuilding of south Louisiana and New Orleans. He is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and the Tulane University School of Law. In addition, he received an MBA from Tulane in 2005.
