Fairmount Sports + Recreation Announces STC Certification

CHARDON, Ohio, July 30, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Fairmount Sports + Recreation, maker of FlexSand® Action, has been named a Certified Material Manufacturer/Supplier of high-purity sands for sports turf infill by the Synthetic Turf Council (STC) due, in part, to its commitment to the STC's guidelines for synthetic turf systems.

Fairmount earned the STC certification after voluntarily committing to deliver products or services that meet or exceed the job specifications and to conduct themselves in a responsible business manner, including the STC's Suggested Guidelines for the Essential Elements of Synthetic Turf Systems, according to the STC.

The STC's certification program is intended to enhance the "quality reputation" of synthetic turf systems. The Fairmount synthetic turf infill is designed to improve a surface's traction, cushioning and safety, as well as durability and design.

The STC Certification Board granted Fairmount Sports + Recreation, a business of Fairmount Minerals, the two-year certification. The division's first STC certification came in 2010. "Our certification of Fairmount signals that it is fully accountable for advancing the best standards in the sports turf market," said Rick Doyle , President of the STC. "There are clear expectations tied to certification, and Fairmount has demonstrated to us that it's prepared to continue to meet them."
