DENVER, Aug. 11, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Brown and blond locks hit the floor as seven Fastaff teammates stepped forward to brave the shave in support of St. Baldrick's Foundation. Setting a goal of $5,000, the team — known for exceeding expectations — donated a total of $17,143 to help St. Baldrick's conquer childhood cancer.
"We're just so overwhelmed by the extraordinary participation our staff has shown in the St. Baldrick's head-shaving event," said Allison Beer, CEO of Healthcare Staffing Services, the parent company of Fastaff Travel Nursing and U.S. Nursing. She also added, "We raised over $2,000 in four hours preceding the event."
Why all the shaved heads? Worldwide, cancer is diagnosed in a child every three minutes, and one in five children with cancer in the U.S. will not survive. With only four percent of all federal cancer research funding solely dedicated to pediatric cancer research, St. Baldrick's Foundation volunteers, supporters and donors are needed to continue the battle against the devastating disease.
As the leading Rapid ResponseSM travel nurse agency, Fastaff works with children's hospitals across the country to supply PICU, NICU and pediatric RNs to hospitals with labor shortages. "Partnering with St. Baldrick's is a natural fit for Fastaff because of our commitment to helping communities near and far receive quality patient care," Beer said.
