'FBI Goes Chinatown'
Chinatown BID and Fashion Business Incubator Join Forces
To Present an Evening of Fashion and Dance
Event to Showcase Latest Fashions from L.A. Designers
And Embrace the Spirit of America
WHAT: Los Angeles fashion designers -- including couture
designer David Cardona and nearly a dozen talented
members of the Fashion Business Incubator
(FBI) -- will converge upon Chinatown's Chung King
Road for "FBI Goes Chinatown," a showcase of
contemporary L.A. fashions -- many of which have never
been seen before by the public. Interspersed
throughout this fashion extravaganza will be dance
performances representing a myriad of different
cultures, ranging from the traditional Chinese lion
dance and hip-hop urban tap dancing to a modern dance
of fabric with projected imagery honoring the spirit
of America. The event is free to the public.
WHO: The participating designers are members of the Los
Angeles-based FBI ( http://www.fashionbizinc.org ),
the two-year-old non-profit organization (a project of
Community Partners) dedicated to providing economic
development assistance, resource information, business
training, promotional opportunities and networking for
the Los Angeles apparel industry. FBI is presenting
this event with the Chinatown Business Improvement
District ( http://www.chinatownla.com ), which is
spearheading a 10-year effort to revitalize this
multi-cultural jewel of the City of Los Angeles. This
event is being organized by Lawrence Man, an active
member of both organizations, who will soon open on
Chung King Road LMAN studio, a concept
gallery/showroom dedicated to fashion, architecture,
interiors, arts and culture.
WHEN: Saturday, December 8, 7:30 to 9:00 p.m.
WHERE: Los Angeles Chinatown's West Plaza
Chung King Road between College and Bernard
WHY: To gather this holiday season and embrace the best of
what Chinatown and the City of Los Angeles have to
offer.
