Launch of the Pyrex(R) Brand and Food2.com 'Party App-titude Challenge'

Online contest in search of most creative party appetizer

ROSEMONT, Ill., Nov. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- May the best chicken wing win. Or eggrolls, or quesadillas, or shrimp ka-bob -- really, anything tasty, creative and small enough to eat in one bite.

A key ingredient to any successful party, appetizers are moving up from opening act to the main event in an exciting new online contest designed to find the most creative party appetizers in the country. It's all happening thanks to the Pyrex brand (www.pyrexware.com), one of the most recognized names in kitchen housewares, and Scripps Networks Digital's newest food and cooking Web site, http://www.Food2.com.

The "Party App-titude Challenge" was created for the Pyrex brand and Food2.com (the people behind Food Network), to shine a spotlight on the clever and creative small snacks coming out of America's kitchens. Of course, they also love a really, really good appetizer.

The online contest launched November 18, 2009 and challenges consumers to submit a photo, description and recipe of their most creative homemade party appetizer. Entrants have the chance to win a trip for two to New York City, a tour of the Food Network Kitchens and a one-year subscription to Food Network Magazine. The winner will also have dinner on the town with Kelsey Nixon, host of Food2's Kelsey & Spike Cook and finalist on season 4 of The Next Food Network Star.

According to Lehman, the contest is searching for cooks who make real, authentic food with a creative flair.

"We're looking for recipes that are easy to make, but that don't rely on pre-packaged or take out ingredients," said Lehman. "We challenge participants to create appetizers that are authentic and innovative to enjoy this holiday season, but that could be served while watching a football game, too."

Online submissions for "The Party App-titude Challenge" will be accepted through December 9, 2009 via www.Food2.com. Entries will be judged by a panel that includes Food Network Magazine editors, and one Grand Prize winner will be chosen based on the creativity, originality and preparation process of the homemade appetizer. The Grand Prize winner will be announced on December 18, 2009.

Exclusive online Pyrex product discount coupons will be provided to all contest participants. The coupons can be used to purchase Pyrex brand products, including items from its new line of smart, intuitive kitchen tools and gadgets.
