Firestone Vineyard is Calling All Cooks
Take This Job And... Love It
SANTA BARBARA, Calif., Aug. 14, /PRNewswire/ -- The folks at Firestone Vineyard, an entrepreneurial and adventurous winery in Santa Ynez Valley, CA get excited about a lot of things -- especially when it comes to discovering new wine, food, travel and life adventures.
They also believe that many others share their enthusiasm about exploration of all kinds so they joined forces with Zephyr Adventure Travel to create a once in a lifetime trip; to hike the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu in Peru.
But what are travel, wine exploration and overall adventure without food? Not nearly as exciting! Therefore, Firestone Vineyard has decided to recruit an exciting, outgoing, creative and adaptive chef to join this intimate group tour to Peru in April 2010.
This person will work alongside Peruvian cooks and serve as the official Guest Chef on the four-day Inca Trail trek and will be hired as a Guest Chef Consultant. The selected chef will receive an all-expense paid trip to Peru -- to experience the incredible Inca Trail -- in return for their time and effort.
Now, as you can imagine, cooking on the Inca Trail is not easy but it is guaranteed to seriously stretch any chef's horizons. If you are chosen, you'll be in the middle of nowhere cooking over gas grills, working with local ingredients at 13,000 feet elevation and everything you use to create your culinary delights will need to be carried in on the backs of our local staff. Fortunately, you will also be working hand-in-hand with our local Peruvian cooks who can show you the ropes and teach you a few tricks. Either way, creativity and flexibility are mandatory!
To apply, visit www.firestonediscoveries.com and submit a one-minute video showing you cooking a dish that you feel best highlights your creativity, flexibility and personality. What you do in the video is your choice - cooking at home without the lights on, baking in the backyard over a fire, or stirring up a delicious dish while on a trail in your neck of the woods. Anything you choose.
Videos will be accepted through October 31, 2009. The top 10 most popular chef videos, based on the total number of unique YouTube views, will be selected for further review. On November 15 three finalists will be chosen and will receive an all-expense paid trip to Firestone Vineyard in Santa Ynez Valley, California on December 13-15. The three finalists will participate in a cook-off, to be judged by our panelists. The winner of the cook-off will be selected as our Guest Chef and will join us on the Inca Trail in April, 2010.
