First-Of-Its-Kind, Online Trip Review Reaches Major Milestone; Three-Month-Old Internet Feature a Hit Among Travelers and Agents

Jun 15, 1999, 01:00 ET from Sabre

FORT WORTH, Texas, June 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Sabre (NYSE: TSG) today
announced that Online Trip Review has reached more than 11,000 requests per
day. Online Trip Review is a new feature of the Sabre computer reservations
system that allows travelers to access their travel itineraries from anywhere
in the world 24 hours a day through the company's corporate Web site --
"I'm a frequent business traveler and I don't live in the same city as my
travel agent, so I find Online Trip Review to be very convenient," said Bud
Bivin, director of sales for Epicron, an Austin, Texas based software company
and Online Trip Review user. "I like it, my itineraries print in an easy-to-
 read format."
Just three months old, Online Trip Review is quickly becoming the tool of
choice by travel agents and travelers for an up-to-date, easy-to-read
itinerary. With Online Trip Review, consumers who book through any Sabre
distribution channel -- more than 40,000 travel agencies worldwide;, the company's online travel site; Sabre Web Reservations(SM),
the travel agency online booking tool; or Sabre Business Travel Solutions, an
online travel system for corporations -- can now review their travel
 arrangements on the Internet.
"Online Trip Review saves time and effort. It is much better than faxing,
which isn't always dependable," said Mary Jane Bennett of Enzor Travel in
Nashville, Tenn. "Travelers like the fact that they can look at their
itinerary on the Web because changes are immediate and they don't have to wait
for an itinerary to be sent."
The growing use of electronic ticketing is a good indication that
travelers and the travel industry alike are comfortable with the technological
advances and ease it provides. Keeping pace with the expanding adoption of
technology, Online Trip Review offers a likely migration for tech-savvy
travelers. This first-of-its-kind service aids travelers and provides added
value to travel agents immediately. After a reservation is confirmed in the
Sabre system, the itinerary is housed securely and can only be viewed by the
traveler. To access the information, a traveler can simply log on to, click the Online Trip Review button, then input their
reservation number and last name to view air, car and hotel reservations.
Online Trip Review also provides access to valuable travel-related information
such as weather reports and detailed driving maps.
"This milestone is important for Sabre because it illustrates consumer
need for this service and thereby validates our product development strategy,"
said Sam Gilliland, senior vice president of product marketing for Sabre.
"Sabre is the only computer reservations system to offer this type of service
to travelers. By providing useful products for the traveler, we bring
additional value to Sabre connected agents."
Sabre is a world leader in the electronic distribution of travel and is a
leading provider of information technology solutions for the travel and
transportation industries, including customized software development and
software products, transaction processing, consulting and total information
 technology outsourcing.
