Founder's Son Named to Lead J. Peterman Tim Peterman brings interactive commerce expertise to business



    LEXINGTON, Ky., March 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Tim A. Peterman, an
 experienced media executive whose career has focused on building, acquiring
 and operating interactive media and commerce businesses, has been named
 president of The J. Peterman Company.

     Peterman will succeed his father and founder of the company, John
 Peterman, in the chief operating role. John Peterman will remain active in
 the company, and become the chairman.
 
     Tim Peterman, 40, joins the family business after serving six years at
 The E.W. Scripps Company, a diversified media enterprise based in
 Cincinnati. In his role as senior vice president of corporate development
 for Scripps, Peterman helped guide the company's expanding presence in the
 Internet commerce marketplace.
 
     Peterman will leave Scripps to join The J. Peterman Company on April 1.

 provided operational oversight for the two businesses.
 
     Before joining Scripps, Peterman worked three years at Interactive
 Corp., including time spent serving as chief financial officer of the
 company's entertainment division (which included USA Network & SciFi
 Channel and its related websites usanetwork.com & scifichannel.com) as well
 the company's electronic commerce business, HSN (hsn.com). Prior to
 Interactive Corp., Peterman held senior financial management positions at
 Sinclair Communications Inc. and Tribune Company.
 
     Peterman, who graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1989 with a
 bachelor's degree in accounting, began his career as a senior auditor for
 Peat Marwick in Chicago.
