FRC Praises New York State Senate's Rejection of Same-Sex 'Marriage'
WASHINGTON, Dec. 2 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Family Research Council (FRC) President Tony Perkins released the following statement today praising the New York State Senate after it rejected same-sex "marriage" in a lopsided vote of 38-24.

"The state senate's rejection of same-sex 'marriage' was more lopsided than many observers predicted. This vote appears to be, at least in part, the affect of last month's elections. In Maine, voters slapped down the legislature by vetoing their same-sex 'marriage' bill. In New York's 23rd Congressional race, voters in droves abandoned pro-same-sex 'marriage' GOP candidate Dede Scozzafava.
"This may be just the beginning of political fallout for politicians who embrace efforts to redefine marriage. New York state senators clearly counted the political costs of doing the political bidding for the homosexual community.
"State legislators around the country should take note of last month's elections but also voters in 31 states who have affirmed traditional marriage at the ballot box. The American people understand that man-woman marriage provides children with the best environment for growth, health and happiness.
"We particularly thank State Senator Ruben Diaz for his leadership and work to preserve marriage for future generations."
