National Dental Insurer United Concordia Dental and University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine team up to provide free screenings and oral hygiene education

HARRISBURG, Pa., Dec. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- United Concordia Dental, one of the nation's largest dental insurers, and the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine will provide free dental exams Thursday, December 10, to 50 Jubilee School students who have minimal or no dental insurance.

The free services will be provided from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the school, 4211 Chester Avenue, Philadelphia. Students also will receive education about the importance of dental health and will be referred for follow-up care if needed.

"Today, more than 108 million American children and adults do not have dental insurance," said Woody Greene, community outreach coordinator for United Concordia Dental. "Outreach programs like this one play a key role in helping promote the importance of proper oral hygiene and good oral health care."

"Our students have a real need for these services," said Victoria Woodson-LaFair, managing and development director of Jubilee School. "We hope this will be the beginning of a strong relationship between our school, the dental students at University of Pennsylvania and United Concordia. This event will go a long way toward helping children and their families understand the importance of proper dental care."

Since January, United Concordia Dental has helped provide more than $400,000 in free dental care to the underinsured and insured across the nation. The company has held 50 free dental programs in communities such as Harrisburg and Erie, Pa.; Baltimore and Westminster, Md.; Syracuse, N.Y.; and New Orleans, La.
