FRISCO, Colo., May 21, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- This year Frisco celebrates its 20th Annual Colorado Barbecue Challenge with BBQ'ers and fun for the family on Father's Day weekend, June 13-15, 2013. This Kansas City Barbecue Society-sanctioned event will host 70 BBQ teams from across the country to compete for the title as the best BBQ'er in the Rockies. Attendees will enjoy many activities, including BBQ feasts from world-renowned BBQ'ers, live music, pig races, a 6K Bacon Burner run, live music, an exclusive chef demo with Brian Malarkey, and a whiskey tour by Breckenridge Distillery with a private tour of winning barbecue teams.

This year Frisco is bringing back its 6K Bacon Burner run on Saturday, June 15 at 9:30 a.m., beginning and ending at the Frisco Bay Marina. The run is a great way to burn off a few calories before devouring the savory BBQ served at the event. Registrants will receive a signature Barbecue Challenge t-shirt and beer coupons to use during the event.
There are plenty of activities for all ages, and with free admission, it's the perfect time to get outdoors and enjoy barbecue. Attendees can purchase hog-back bucks, Frisco's BBQ currency, to pay for food and drinks and use at participating retail stores and restaurants along Main Street.
In addition to the BBQ food and festivities, attendees will have a chance to enjoy a chef demo with Brian Malarkey at the Viking kitchen gazebo. Malarkey is the star of the cooking show The Taste on ABC. He is also transforming the dining scene with his new restaurant and dining experience at Searsucker and other restaurants, including Burlap, Gabardine, Gingham and Herringbone.
For inspiring barbecuers and whiskey lovers, the Breckenridge Whiskey Rub It, Smoke It, Sip It BBQ Tour will show participants how to prepare various meats while sipping on whiskey.
