REDONDO BEACH, Calif., Oct. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Function Drinks announced today that Co-Founder & President, Dr. Alex Hughes has signed onto the faculty of the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) and Weill Cornell/ New York Presbyterian Hospital as a clinical instructor and attending in spinal surgery. In addition, Dr. Hughes will continue his role leading research and development for Function Drinks, a line of physician-created dietary supplements.

Dr. Hughes is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in the surgical management of traumatic, degenerative, and deformity-related conditions of the cervical, thoracic, and lumbosacral spine. He completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery at UCLA Medical Center 2008 and his spinal surgery fellowship at the Hospital for Special Surgery in early 2009. Dr. Hughes graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelors Degree in biomedical engineering from Vanderbilt University in 1999 and earned a Medical Doctorate at the Vanderbilt School of Medicine in 2003.
