Gap Inc. Names Andrew Rolfe President, International Division

    SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 3 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Gap Inc. (NYSE:   GPS) today
 announced that Andrew Rolfe, 37, is joining the company as President of its
 International Division. Based at the company's San Francisco headquarters, Mr.
 Rolfe will oversee Gap stores in France, Germany, the United Kingdom and
 Japan, and be responsible for leading the company's international growth
 strategies. He will report to Gap Inc. President and CEO Paul Pressler and be
 a member of the company's Executive Leadership Team.

 retail brands globally and serving customer needs across diverse international

     Prior to joining Gap Inc., Mr. Rolfe was Chairman and CEO of Pret A
 Manger, a London-based food retailer with operations in the United Kingdom,
 New York, Hong Kong and Tokyo. During his five-year tenure, Rolfe transformed
 the company into an international retailer. Prior to Pret A Manger, Rolfe was
 CEO of Booker Foodservice, the leading contract and wholesale distribution
 company in the U.K. catering industry; he also was a Director of Booker Plc.
 Mr. Rolfe also served as Vice President Operations Europe for PepsiCo
 Restaurants International, where he provided operational leadership for 1,300
 KFC and Pizza Hut restaurants across 30 countries.
     Mr. Rolfe currently serves as a Director of WH Smith Plc. He holds a
 bachelor's degree in philosophy, politics and economics from Oxford University
 and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
     The first Gap store outside the United States opened in London in 1987. As
 of October 4, 2003, Gap operates 467 store concepts in 261 store locations in
 Germany, France, the United Kingdom and Japan.
