GARP Announces Record-Breaking FRM Exam Registrations
2008 FRM Exam Registrations Tops Previous Year's Total With 3 Months
Remaining
NEW YORK, LONDON, and BEIJING, July 18 /PRNewswire/ -- With three
months remaining until registration for the 2008 Financial Risk Manager
(FRM(R)) Exam closes on October 15, 2008, this year's registrations have
already surpassed the total number of all registrations received in 2007,
the Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP: www.garp.org) announced
today.
In 2007, 10,135 candidates across the world registered to attain the
FRM, the certification recognized by financial risk professionals
worldwide. On July 18, 2008, registration for the 2008 FRM Exam reached new
heights by topping last year's total number of registrations. Earlier this
year on May 1st, GARP reported a record high for registrations with a 42%
increase over the number of Early Registrants in 2007.
"The heightened focus on risk management over the last 18 months has
helped fuel the growth of our FRM program," said Richard Apostolik, GARP
President and CEO. "We are seeing more and more firms across a variety of
industry sectors around the world calling for financial risk managers to be
credentialed. The FRM program answers that call with a comprehensive
curriculum, a challenging exam and a recognition among risk professionals
worldwide of the significance of holding the FRM designation."
The growth of the FRM Program has been dramatic both in terms of total
registrations and global acceptance since its inception in 1997. The FRM
Program has experienced a compounded annual growth rate of 23% over the
last 6 years, higher than any other financial certification program in any
6-year period in history. A total of 2,483 organizations, including 26% of
the Fortune Global 500 companies, from over 135 countries around the globe
were represented by FRM candidates in 2007.
Candidates may continue to register until October 15, 2008, with
Standard Registration ending on August 31, 2008, and Late Registration
ending October 15, 2008. The exam is scheduled to be given on November 15,
2008 in over 75 exam sites across 6 continents. For additional information
