Gemological Institute of America Relocates New York Education Center
CARLSBAD, Calif., May 7 /PRNewswire/ -- The Gemological Institute of
America (GIA) has updated, expanded, and relocated its New York Education
Center to Madison Avenue as of May 3, and it now offers classes in gemology,
jewelry design, and related subjects at the new location. GIA, known as the
world's foremost authority in gemology, has been educating current and future
gemologists in New York since 1948.
The new Education Center, which comprises 17,715-square-feet on the 2nd
floor of the building at 270 Madison Ave at 39th Street, will provide expanded
space for classrooms and student areas as well as administrative offices. The
previous center, co-located at 580 Fifth Avenue with the GIA Gem Laboratory,
will remain as the laboratory's headquarters location.
"We wanted a new location to better serve the increased demand for
gemological education in the New York metropolitan area," said GIA Vice
President of Education Brook Ellis. "GIA is the accredited education
Institute for the international gem and jewelry industry, and with New York as
a major worldwide hub, we are making every effort to provide the high quality
instruction the industry requires."
Dan Campbell, director of the New York Education Center, said, "By
expanding to seven classrooms, three more than our previous location, we're
confident that our new Education Center will serve to enhance the learning
experience for all our students."
Ellis also noted, "GIA students in New York not only receive an education
from the world's top gemology instructors, but can take advantage of the many
unique opportunities New York City offers to enrich their education -- from
the world famous diamond district only a few blocks away, and a front row seat
to watch highly skilled diamond cutting and jewelry manufacturing firsthand,
to touring flagship stores of firms like Tiffany and Cartier. And there's
much more."
GIA's New York Education Center can be contacted by phone at 800-366-8519,
