 Foods, Inc. is pleased to announce the appointment of John Cowles to the
 position of President, George Weston Bakeries, Inc.
     In this capacity, John will be responsible for guiding all aspects of the
 fresh bread and roll and Thomas' businesses in the USA. These brands include
 Arnold, Brownberry, Dutch Country, Stroehmann, Freihofer and Thomas' English
 Muffins and Bagels.
     John has had an extensive background in the consumer packaged goods
 industry, most recently with Kraft Foods, Inc. He was the Senior Vice
 President and General Manager of the Beverages Division.
 
     Weston Foods, Inc. and George Weston Bakeries, Inc. are wholly-owned
 subsidiaries of George Weston Limited, a Canadian public company founded in
