Giant Food to Hold Business Opportunity Construction Trade Fair For New Brentwood Road Store

    LANDOVER, Md., Jan. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Giant Food, in partnership with the
 DC Office of Planning and Economic Development, is seeking Local Small
 Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (LSDBE) certified contractors and suppliers
 for the construction of a new Giant Food store on Brentwood Road in NE,
 Washington, DC.  Giant Food's Construction Division will be holding a
 Contractors Business Opportunity Fair on Tuesday, February 5, 2002 from 10:00
 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Giant Food's headquarters located at 6400 Sheriff Road,
 Landover, MD.
     Giant's Business Fair will provide specific opportunities for local
 contractors, vendors, and suppliers to become involved in the construction of
 Giant's proposed northeast Washington store project.  Giant Food has a
 specific interest in union trades that can furnish and install reinforcing
 steel, duct work, excavation for foundations, masonry, caulking and
 weatherproofing, roofing, electrical, ceramic and quarry tile, and
 sprinkler/fire protection.  In addition, Giant is interested in suppliers who
 can provide the Brentwood Road project with specific materials including,
 concrete, rough lumber, hollow metal/wood doors and frames with hardware,
 overhead roll-up doors and grilles, miscellaneous construction supplies,
 drywall, metal studs, paint and accessories, etc.
