Givaudan Flavours and Fragrances Create Vanilla Flavour for Eiffel Tower Ice Skating Rink
Givaudan's World-Famous Flavourists and Perfumers Collaborated to Create
'Vanille Givree,' or Iced Vanilla for the Rink
PARIS, Jan. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Givaudan, the Swiss-based flavours and
fragrance supplier, announced today that they've developed a special scent for
the newly opened ice skating rink at the top of the world famous Parisian
landmark -- the Eiffel Tower. To celebrate 2005, Paris city hall decided to
build an ice rink on the first floor of the Eiffel tower. Givaudan wanted to
enhance this magical attraction by having a flavoured rink, the first of its
kind.

The "Vanille Givree" flavour (iced vanilla) was specifically created for
this occasion -- to recall the warmth of well deserved holiday cookies after
hours spent skating in the cold winter weather! Both Parisians and tourists
alike can smell this enticing and sweet vanilla flavour as they skate high
above the Paris skyline throughout this holiday season. In addition to the
skating rink with its festive scent and show of lights, the entire tower is
ornamented in winter fashion: the entrances to the tower are decorated in
frosted white and silver.
For Givaudan, this initiative is the result of a creative and effective
collaboration between their flavours experts and fragrance specialists. The
"Vanille Givree" flavour was specially created by Raymonde Menu, Senior
Flavourist at Givaudan Paris. Participating in the creation of this
magnificent new attraction is an inventive and fun way Givaudan broadens the
scope of flavour application.
Perched 57 meters above the "Champs de Mars" on the first floor of the
Eiffel Tower, the ice skating rink is the highest in Paris. The rink was
opened to the public on December 10, 2004.
