Globe Pequot Press Acquires Footprint Books
AUGUSTA, Ga., Aug. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Globe Pequot Press has
strengthened its position as a travel guide publisher with the purchase of
Bath, England- based Footprint Books. The announcement was made today by
Scott Watrous, president of Globe Pequot.
Footprint Books, which issued its first guidebook in 1924, publishes 80
travel guides covering locations on five continents. The guidebooks feature
extensive information on the destinations covered - from food and
accommodations to nightlife and transportation.
"We have long admired Footprint Books as a model for how to produce
travel guides," Watrous said. "I am delighted they are becoming a part of
the Globe Pequot travel publications."
The acquisition will help expand Globe Pequot's reach across the globe,
augmenting the company's travel guide portfolio.
"Footprint Books is a company with a long history in the travel
publication business and they are a perfect fit for our present program,"
said Watrous. "The addition of Footprint is part of Globe's strategy to
become a top-notch travel publisher."
Andy Riddle will continue to serve Footprint as managing director.
"We've spent the last couple of years getting the Footprint business
focused on our core strengths - publishing guide books for adventurous
independent travelers looking to get off the beaten track; whilst also
developing an innovative, successful range of thematic travel guides that
tie in to people's passions and pastimes," Riddle said. "The move to Globe
Pequot gives us the chance to move the company to the next level."
Globe Pequot will be handling the U.S. distribution of the Footprint
guides.
