ATLANTA, Nov. 14, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Global Net Access (GNAX) Health, a leading healthcare technology infrastructure and application delivery service provider, announces the general availability of their cloud-based archive, storage and back-up solution for healthcare. The DOES™ Archive stands for Distributed Object-based Elastic Storage and is a hosted, data archive service that includes automated replication across two of GNAX's data centers with one low monthly storage cost per gigabyte.  The solution consists of three core capabilities, is fully HIPAA-compliant and shifts data storage from capital intensive systems that are managed locally to an affordable, pay-as-you-grow service.

"Hospital data centers are growing exponentially, but their budgets and staffs aren't," mentions Hinkle. In 2010, Data Center Knowledge reported that 63 percent of readers were in the midst of data center and storage expansion. Furthermore, 50 percent of healthcare IT departments have open positions and 50 percent of CIOs state their staff members are stressed (according to Kirby Partners, a healthcare IT recruiting firm).

The GNAX DOES solution solves healthcare's storage, budget and staffing issues by off-loading on-site hardware and system management costs. GNAX Health can migrate data from proprietary systems, including those that are nearing end-of-service life, relieving hospitals of high professional services costs. "Many hospitals are faced with expensive proprietary on-site storage systems that are being discontinued. Technology has shifted and it's a great time to reevaluate core data center needs and resource options," Hinkle concludes.

According to GNAX customers, the ability to offload on-site storage systems to GNAX DOES is particularly valuable because it lowers costs and keeps internal staff focused on meeting IT-driven requirements for meaningful use and other core organizational goals.

GNAX DOES Archive eliminates the need for back-up tapes and gives hospitals flexibility to add new systems and store more data for compliance, including images produced by PACS. "Back-up information is much easier to store in the cloud," mentions Hinkle. Changes in files and data are managed real-time with simple file transfer protocols and real-time monitoring capabilities. Finally, GNAX DOES includes diverse geographic redundancy by replicating data automatically between its Atlanta and Dallas data centers providing complete security and high availability for disaster recovery, application back-ups and hot site needs.

GNAX will be showcasing the GNAX DOES Archive solution at RSNA 2011 and discussing how it can help medical imaging departments lower costs and achieve greater interoperability. Visit GNAX Health at booth 7036.
