NEW YORK, April 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Starbucks Coffee is joining forces with several local environmental organizations throughout the metropolitan New York area to "green up" parks, ponds and beaches, and to bring community members together to promote environmental awareness in conjunction with Earth Day. This year marks the most extensive Earth Day community program Starbucks has coordinated in the New York City/tri-state area. Along with its seventh annual park clean up at Morningside Park in Manhattan, Starbucks will also be greening up Rogers Park in Danbury, CT; Eisenhower Park in East Meadow, LI, and Sandy Hook Beach in Sandy Hook, NJ. In addition, Starbucks will team with HP and Best Buy to provide consumers an opportunity to recycle unwanted computer hardware in an environmentally responsible manner free of charge at Grand Central on April 26 and 27. Starbucks is partnering with the City of New York/ Parks & Recreation, Friends of Morningside Park and the Columbia University Earth Coalition for this event. Cleaning and planting in the children's garden and playground, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, April 26. Sandy Hook, New Jersey: First annual Sandy Hook Beach clean up. Sweep and beautify the beach, 8:15 am - 1:30 p.m., Saturday, April 26.
