    ST. LOUIS, April 11 /PRNewswire/ -- The best place to go for a great
 burger is now also the best place to go for a great milkshake or malt.
 Hardee's restaurants is introducing new Hand-Scooped Ice Cream Shakes &
 Malts(TM), made with real ice cream, real milk, and blended to order.

     "The quality and taste of our new ice cream milkshakes and malts are head
 and shoulders above anything being served by any major fast-food chain today,"
 said Brad Haley, executive vice president of marketing for Hardee's.  "In
 fact, most fast-food chains stopped making real milkshakes many years ago in
 favor of faster and cheaper shakes that are machine-made using a liquid shake
 mix -- and most of those can't even legally be referred to as ice cream."
     "Now Hardee's has brought back the great taste of classic diner milkshakes
 and malts.  Each shake is made with real ice cream that is hand-scooped and
 individually blended with milk and a choice of chocolate, strawberry, vanilla,
 or peach syrup, just the way they were made in the 'old days.'  We'll even mix
 in real malted milk powder for those guests who want to go super retro and
 order a malt."
     The suggested retail price for Hardee's Hand-Scooped Ice Cream Shakes &
 Malts is $2.49, although prices may vary at franchised locations.  The
 milkshakes and malts are served in clear plastic 16-oz. cups with clear
 plastic domed lids filled with whipped topping.  The chain plans to offer
 vanilla, chocolate and strawberry flavors, along with a fourth seasonal
 flavor, which is currently peach.
     "One of our chief goals with the introduction of our line of Angus beef
 Thickburgers almost two years ago was to deliver the quality of sit-down
 restaurant burgers at a fast-food place," added Haley.  "Now, we've done the
 same thing with our Hand-Scooped Ice Cream Shakes & Malts.  Together with one
 of our Thickburgers, they make a perfect combination."
     Hand-Scooped Ice Cream Shakes & Malts are available in most Hardee's
 restaurants starting today.  The remainder of the chain's restaurants will
 complete the roll-out by mid-summer.
