Governor Rendell's Office Releases Details on Friendly Wager Over 2009 World Series
HARRISBURG, Pa., Oct. 28 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Governor Edward G. Rendell's office today announced a friendly wager with New York Governor David Paterson on the outcome of the World Series matchup between the reigning world champion Philadelphia Phillies and the New York Yankees.
Under the wager, a resident of the state with the winning team will enjoy a four-day, three-night vacation to the losing team's city.
If the Phillies win, a Pennsylvania resident will be chosen for a trip for two to New York City. Entrants must submit an essay of 250 words or less explaining why they love the Phillies. The winning essay will be selected by Governor Rendell.
In the event of a Phillies victory, the contest will open on the day after the winning game at www.pa.gov. Official rules and conditions will be available at that time.
Should the Yankees win, a New York resident and guest chosen by lottery will visit Philadelphia to enjoy the luxury accommodations at the Park Hyatt at the Bellevue, be treated to dinner at the Prime Rib, VIP access at a cultural event, as well as brunch at Parc in the inviting Rittenhouse Square during an all-access VIP weekend.
Transportation will be provided by Amtrak between Philadelphia and New York. Accommodations, meals and tickets to the different venues included in each vacation package were donated by the respective companies, organizations and venues. The Pennsylvania Tourism Office and the Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corp. helped to coordinate the Pennsylvania package.
