GrandStadium.TV Inks Deals with CatchitKansas, KWCH, KHQ and KSTC

New sports site will showcase local high school games and tournaments shot by students from each participating market

NEW YORK, Sept. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- GrandStadium.TV, an online site covering high school games and tournaments shot by local high school students has announced deals with CatchitKansas, KWCH, KHQ and KSTC to feature local high school sports in each market. Each participating high school produces their games and students are guided by their broadcast journalism teacher with lesson plans written by JDL Horizons and its associates, who also write lesson plans for the NYC public school system.

This is a unique opportunity for students interested in sports and the broadcast industry. Students collaborate to produce, direct, shoot and capture interviews in a live sports arena setting. In November 2008, students from Eagan High filmed 12 semi-final championship games in two days under the bright lights of the Metrodome where the Minnesota Twins and Vikings both play. Over the next four years, KSTC will offer every high school tournament free. On GrandStadium.TV they will also promote regular season games on a pay-per-view basis using the Internet. Both KWCH and KHQ, WorldNow affiliated stations, have each launched new specialty sports channels, CatchitKansas and SWX, respectively, with WorldNow and are also offering games on a pay-per-view basis.

GrandStadium.TV is garnering lots of interest and has received support from the Kansas High School Association and the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL).

"Minnesota has long been a leader in providing live, over-the-air coverage of our State Football, State Boys' and Girls' Hockey, and State Boys' and Girls' Basketball tournaments. Our partnership with GrandStadium.TV and KSTC-TV now enables us to provide coverage of all state tournaments to a world-wide audience." said Dave Stead, the Minnesota State High School League Executive Director. "Our joint broadcast journalism initiative enables schools throughout Minnesota to utilize the expertise of our two partners as students are trained to webcast regular-season games and school activities to their own world community."

"We're proud to be part of this partnership with the MSHSL and Grand Stadium," says Susan Wenz, Station Manager, KSTC. "As the broadcast home of Minnesota championship tournament coverage, we're pleased to be able to offer free webcasting of the many high school sports and activities sponsored by the MSHSL. We were thrilled to watch the student team from Eagan High School produce last year's semi-final football championship which was streamed live on GrandStadium.TV. The precision, skill and enthusiasm from these students and their advisors showed us the power of their commitment and dedication."

GrandStadium.TV has the potential to simultaneously broadcast up to 4,000 games at once which are available through pay-per-view or DVD purchase. This unique partnership creates a revenue opportunity for participating stations who keep 100% of the sponsorship revenue from GrandStadium.TV. GrandStadium.TV can also be embedded on the station's site to create additional traffic for the stations. In addition, the station is able to cross-promote and feature the local participating high schools on-air and shares in the pay-per-view fees with each school.

"Our team worked with two high schools last year to produce four championship basketball and football games," said Joan Barrett, President and General Manager of Sunflower Broadcasting, Inc. "It's a great opportunity to broadcast local content for our viewers, and expose these students to future job opportunities available in broadcasting."

GrandStadium.TV offers broadcasters the opportunity to generate new revenue, create additional traffic to their station's Web site, and acts as a strong marketing tool by forging relationships and working with the schools in their local community. At the same time, GrandStadium.TV helps schools make money and teaches broadcasting to students which is tied into the No Child Left Behind program.
