Grassroots Effort By Nashville Businessmen Seeks Voice In Presidential Election
NASHVILLE, Tenn., Sept. 21, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Is the average, middle class person really engaged in the presidential election? A group of self-described middle class businessmen here are, and they have spent their time and their own money to help support their cause by creating an television commercial and launching a website, www.freepatriots.org, to raise money for running the commercial in key states.
While most Americans sit in front of their computers and exchange opinions about the election with friends in emails, the creators of freepatriots.org decided to get into the battle and take action.
"The issues in this election, particularly those relating to our national debt, jobs and the economy, are so critically important to our nation's survival that they felt compelled to do something to try and engage fellow citizens to what we see as the important issues," said Ron Sohr, one of the principals in Free Patriots. "Using our own contacts and resources, we created a commercial that presents our beliefs about what's important in this election. The commercial can be viewed at www.freepatriots.org."
Sohr freely admits that freepatriots.org is not a professional political organization; however, he believes that is precisely why this effort is both unique and attractive.
"Free Patriots is wholly a grassroots initiative that has sprung forth, not from political hacks or pundits, but from ordinary American citizens who have something to say and we are eager to get our message out into the mainstream during the critical phase of this election," said Sohr. This effort has come together quickly and all of our work and funding are from our own private resources. Every nickel received by Free Patriots, LLC from here on will be used to buy television time to run the commercial, Sohr added. "No one on our team is getting paid for this effort; we are all donating our time and personal resources to make this happen."
Free Patriots is registered with the Federal Elections Commission as a Nonconnected Political Action Committee. It is a Tennessee Non-profit LLC. For additional information, visit www.freepatriots.org.
