Gray Line of Alaska Launches Season With Special Denali National Park Packages, New Self-Drive Tours

Individual and Group Tours Can Be Readily Customized

SEATTLE, May 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Gray Line of Alaska is launching its Alaska season with new self-drive tours and Denali Summer Special packages. A leader in Alaska and Yukon tourism with more than 60 years of experience, Gray Line of Alaska specializes in offering a wide range of land tours from Denali to the Arctic and customizing individual itineraries.

"Alaska-bound travelers should take advantage of these new special offers," said Mark Mumm, Gray Line of Alaska's director of sales and marketing. "Our tour season, including day trips in many destinations, runs through Sept. 22, and we have availability on most packages. We also specialize in creating custom packages for both individuals and groups. Because we have the knowledge and infrastructure -- day boats, trains and motor coaches -- readily available, we can create an ideal travel itinerary or customize an existing tour on relatively short notice."

Denali Summer Special

Gray Line of Alaska is making star-attraction Denali National Park more accessible for visitors with its Denali Summer Special. The affordable, two-day packages are offered through Sept. 19 and include roundtrip luxury rail travel to Denali and one night at a park entrance hotel. Prices start at $289 per person, double occupancy, from Anchorage, or $199, per person, double occupancy, from Fairbanks.

"Our Denali Summer Special package gives visitors time to tour the popular Tundra Wilderness or take trips featuring whitewater rafting, flightseeing, guided hiking and self-drive jeep tours," said Mumm. "The six-hour Tundra Wilderness Tour is the best way to travel deep into Denali National Park, where wildlife -- including grizzly bears, moose, caribou, Dall sheep and wolves -- is most readily spotted."

Train travel is aboard McKinley Explorer domed railcars. These trains, North America's largest passenger railcars, offer panoramic glass windows for viewing picturesque Alaska's dramatic scenery while traveling to and from Denali.

New Self-Drive Tours

For independent travelers, Gray Line of Alaska is adding two new pre-planned, self-drive tours to its Alaska by Car program this year. Both include a rental car, itinerary, hotel reservations and select tours.

Homer by Car is a seven-day tour, roundtrip from Anchorage, with stops in Seward, Alyeska and Homer. It includes Portage Glacier, Kenai Fjords and Gulf Island Kachemak Bay cruises, an Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center tour and Alyeska tram ride with mountaintop lunch.

Valdez by Car is a nine-day tour, roundtrip from Anchorage, with stops in Valdez, Glennallen, Fairbanks and Denali. Travelers take a Columbia Glacier cruise, ride the luxurious McKinley Explorer train to Denali National Park and take a Denali Natural History tour.

Gray Line's Alaska by Car tour is a seven-day self-drive tour, roundtrip from Anchorage. The Alaska by Car with McKinley Explorer tour adds one day to visit Denali by train. As with all Gray Line of Alaska tours, these self-drive itineraries can be customized.

Independent and Escorted Tours

Gray Line of Alaska offers both independent packages and escorted tours. The Denali and Interior independent packages range from three to seven days and highlight the Kenai Peninsula, Prince William Sound or Talkeetna. Each includes Denali National Park.

Two, eight-day escorted tours offer the convenience of a tour guide to handle trip logistics. Escorted Great Land Explorer trips journey from Fairbanks to Anchorage, visiting Talkeetna, Denali and Seward. The Escorted Alaska Explorer trip is a roundtrip tour from Anchorage that visits Talkeetna, Denali, Alyeska and Seward.

Independent highway tours combine the Anchorage-Denali-Fairbanks rail route with motor coach travel through the Yukon Territory. After Fairbanks, the All Alaska Tour visits Beaver Creek, Whitehorse, Skagway and Juneau while the Yukon Highlights trip explores Tok and Dawson City instead of Beaver Creek before continuing on to Whitehorse, Skagway and Juneau.

Gray Line of Alaska specializes in creating commissionable custom land tours and day tours in Alaska and the Yukon for both individuals and groups. Alaska tour package reservations can be booked with a travel agent, through the Gray Line of Alaska web site (www.graylinealaska.com) or by calling 800-544-2206.
